Lyon County Court Records Access Rules
Kansas starts with an open-records premise, but court records are governed by both public-records law and Kansas Supreme Court rules. K.S.A. 45-218 is the practical Kansas Open Records Act response rule: a custodian must act as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day, or explain delay or denial. Juvenile records, victim-sensitive information, medical or mental health records, Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, and confidential addresses may also be hidden or redacted.
